  • Frigging hell.

They put anything that was on sale back to its original price and the sale was off that original price. Get a fucking clue, people.

  • I’m kinda glad I ended up not buying anything at Circuit City when it was going out of business. Linens-N-Things where have I been living, never knew it was going out of business O.o.

  • Lamest.
    Ripoff.
    Ever.
I’ve seen Gottschalks’s stuff, and they at least took the time to change the price tags.
Then again, they had some Sharper Image stuff blatantly displayed, so…

    plasma tvs for 100.
and other great items for cheap.

  • Hahaha that made me laugh so hard, I freaking cried. I see this all the time whenever there is a liquidation sale. You know it reminds me of the small businesses at vacation spots who say their going out of business. You know what, they been going out of business for years! Hahaha fools! Open your eyes!

  • It’s definitely the customers. I just went to a CC here in NYC and the entire store was cleaned out except for a few products.

Now get this… what the CC had left were beat up display model laptops with missing keys. The liquidators had the gall to still sell these for between $450-$800 and yet customers were literally ogling these beat up laptops like they were seriously considering buying one. I guess it’s because they were all labeled “Last one in the store!”

    LOL…

  • I worked at Ccity as well. They don’t have time to go around and mark things down individually. Because old is cheap and new is expensive. With that said, most stuff was overpriced because they have to go off of a base price. Aka retail. Yes liquidators are trying to get as much money as they can but there has to be a structure to their sale or it would just be business as usual.

  • So I guess the lesson here is if a big name store is going out of business just steer clear and let the shit pile sink.

  • PASS THIS ON!!!

  • LOL I work at CCity too and even though there “sale” prices are a complete crock of shit everything in the store is getting sold so what does that tell us about most shopers? that they don’t take the time to shop around or think about the prices. They see a %off sign and assume they are getting a real deal. SO who is the stupid ones? the liquidators or the customers?

    Comment by DMurray428 — February 9, 2010 @ 12:07 pm

  • that is a big help! telling us how liquidator works.

but you should talk about patrol cops, the peace court and penndot. they are ripping drivers off everyday!

they did pick the most crowed area with no parking garage to do a weekly street clean. the street was never dirty

  • yeha I work at circuit city now and dealing with the liquidation blows ass. Prices are ridiculous and of course customers yell at me, as if I make the prices. The great follow up line to every pissed off customer…”That’s why you guys are going out of business”……..is it? is it really?

    Comment by clayman41 — February 9, 2010 @ 2:37 pm

  • This story was exactly right, when I went in December 2008 to Mervyns “Going out of Business sale. THe prices for t-shirts were like 40 dollars when they used to be $10.00 dollars, pants were like $80.00 when they used to be $20.00.

  • You wonder why people fall for this ? Just look at the people who buy a home without a lawyer. You can’t fix stupid.

  • I worked for a company that got liquidated: Emporium, a department store in Oregon. Those percentages off got bigger and bigger with time, so the deals got great only at the very end of the liquidation, but by that time all the good selection was gone. I was even duped by my boss who called me at home to tell me that we were going down to 20%. She said it as though it was the final drop so that employees would buy up stuff. Yup. caveat emptor
